the end of things

something about the bells in the air and
the water ahead
and the notes i breathe in as they’re played,
the cool cement on the back
and the fence on my feet-

i’ve followed one or two
whirlpools and wished this fence was
gone. and i’ve relaxed and felt content
but still wished to move on.

this sidewalk walks walls
two ways down
the ocean at one end
endless photography at the other
i wish i had the strength to swim away,
or be beautiful,
more than each thought i have
or the sound of ripple with
cars and bass.
do you feel out of place?
we can fall away.

there is endless water here
and what i’m sure is a drug dealer
parked behind me.
do you want to fall away?
