the moon

i saw the moon tonight.
he had tears on his face,
a silent grace to portray
an ever present face.

he waxed and waned
and kept himself the same
while all the while
he pulled away.

an endless bob to please
the oceans and seas,
fickle lovers, fickle friends
time and time again
flowing away.

if time and space
were gone and only
stars remained,
i’d take the moon’s tears
for my own.
